outofthegamer wrote:Hi Glitch Maniac, and welcome to WBW!! It's strange, we have a member named Glitchmaniac already (doesn't really post anymore) and there was a guy named Aethan who posted once--and had almost the exact same sig as you:
My current glitch status:

SoTN: 285.6%
SoTN (map glitch): 347.8%
DoS: 300.4%

Is that you??? and what the hell is the map glitch????!?!?!! S4R, save glitch, DHR??? There are dozens of map glitches for SotN, why have 2 separate percentages?

So anyway, back to DoS. 300.5% is very good, but is that with warping? You know, when your map cursor moves up very quickly on the screen for 4 minutes. Or is it from free exploration? I get the impression that you have done some free exploration; and to clarify your findings, I'll explain the map configuration of DoS.

When you leave the castle, there is dozens of map screens of space in every direction. Depending on the situation, you can go up, down, left, or right; and completely wrap around the game area. That's right, you will end up back where you started eventually. For Portrait of Ruin it is 54 map screens, but for DoS I haven't been able to nail down a specific number...I think it's a lot more than 54. And extra percentage usually appears in random sized chunks at certain distances away from the castle.
Usually 5-10 map screens away.

The most % I ever got in DoS was 299.4%, but it was without any map warping at all! Unfortunately I messed up my file recently (trying to nail down the procedure for turning into Julius without warping--never did get it perfected). I had to start over, but the good news is, I'm starting a warp file now-- to see how high of a % I can get. I'll let you know what I get...

Yh thats me, i'm Aethan and for some reason I messed up on my registration, I got your PM earlier and i'll keep this account plz. So yh, The 300.5% was with warping and my 2 SoTN ones are one without the save room map reset and the other one is without using the save room map reset glitch. I havent actually been able to increase the map percentage for a long time on my Dos game now.

Thx for the help btw with the floor exploration and also 299.4% with no warping, impressive ^^ , I didn't actually think there was so many map layers to be honest either. BTW an effect on my game with the succubus glitch was a problem on my top screen. The castle at the top from the opening screen is there and doesn't go away and if I use a teleport then the name of the destination that I leave the room is stuck up there, I believe that the game has lost the ability to read the map on my top screen and displays the last image on the top screen. The best bit is getting clothes as weapons ^^ . I'm going to start a new game on a second file for some new warping experimentation. If I find anything new I will let you know SYL,

Bare Knuckles is actually Yoko's weapon showing up in your menu; like the VK or Alucard's sword--but since Soma doesn't have an animation for Yoko's fan weapon, it just shows as a fist weapon.

In DoS (and PoR) when you keep going in one direction for 85 (or 54) map screens, you end up back where you started; but on the other side of the room (I wish that worked in SotN!) And I think it is the same number of screens vertically. It's definitely the same vertically for PoR, but in most cases you can only go 53 and a half screens vertically, before running into an invisible wall.

But in DoS, I was able to get under a floor with open space under it, and fall all the way to the top of the room i started in, but I didn't count screens...it's probably 85. As far as increasing percentage; I have been testing some percentage increasing procedures for DoS. It seems to get more difficult to increase the percentage, the closer you get to 300%.

I noticed that when you are warping or in open space, you gain percentage only on certain screens. Obviously the main screen, but only if you have some un-visited rooms on that screen, then after that you will gain more % on every 4 map screens after that; i.e. 5, 9, 13, etc. And having as little of the original map screen covered seems to give you more % per room. Normally you get 0.1% per map square of the castle, but when you are 5 or 9 map screens away and you go in a spot of un-visited castle you can get as much as 0.7% per room...or more!

Yoko's weapon is bound to her sprites like Old Axe Armor's. She only gets the stat boost from the bare knuckles just like axe armor gets stat boost from the golden axe it has equipped by default.

But then again Julius has the whip sprites in his spriteset too, yet he uses the whip weapon from the weapon set just like Alucard, which is weird and suggests those weapons were originally either supposed to be acquirable for soma or equippable in some way.

It's also odd that their weapons have a description.

yh I agree there FreakGuy, if they put descriptions then it must have obviously been in the original beta versions of DoS. I suppose they decided against it and thought that using them in the Julius game would be more fun. Then again why would they do that in the first place. I think were better off with them. I'm sure if we delved into a sprite spreadsheet from the game we could find a sprite for the whip and the alucard sword. Also I would expect them to take them out completely from the game or at least that's what I would have thought.

Being able to get them without glitching would have been cool. :-)

Another effect discovered:
Having over ten of things like Golem soul keeps raising strength for each one. :stupid:

In sotn the walk armor def raise with % you obtain... and the fun is that when you reach high numbers with infinite rooms (or cheat code), after 999 DEF, the game go back to 0 and stop to increment ^^

Maybe if you got enough of those you will have 0 strenght in the end

Wow, 107%! That's gotta be from the bat company glitch, right?
Is that the final percentage, or do you still have more rooms in the regular castle (or abyss) to get?

Hmm, I always got 108.5% or higher. I suppose you could start all over again; but that'd be a lot of work for a measly 1.5% or 1.8%.

Just stand next to a chair and back-dash past it while holding up. After going past the chair there will be an invisible force pulling you towards the chair. If you press up you will sit on air, but the force will pull you into the chair. So you have to make the revolving bookcase stop you from sliding.
